Are you currently manufacturing Through Hole products?

Millison Technology has a special offer for conversion of these products to Surface Mount Technology (SMT).

In this special offer we will manufacture your existing through hole product while our engineering team converts the product to SMT for future manufacture.

Under this offer, Millison Technology:

bulletmanufactures your pin-through-hole (PTH) product at the same price as your existing supplier.
bulletanalyses the costs to you for the SMT conversion process.
bulletanalyses the costs and savings to you from the SMT conversion.
bulletprovides you with an agreed SMT manufactured price.
bulletprovides you with an agreed date for manufacture of the SMT product.
bulletnegotiates a quantity to be run as part of the proposal.
bulletprovides you with prototypes for testing and evaluation.
bulletguides the SMT product through EMC and regulatory requirements.

As a part of our guarantee, you will receive the SMT cost saving on the date agreed, whether we have finished the SMT conversion or not (provided the delays were not caused by you).

Why do it this way:
bulletSMT requires different design and manufacture skills to ensure the lowest total cost of ownership. Millison Technology staff have these skills, tailored to our manufacturing processes and equipment.
bulletMillison gains experience in your product by manufacturing your existing product.
bulletMillison gains experience in your business by manufacturing your existing product.
bulletThe SMT product does not come on line until it is fully approved, tested, certified etc.
bulletDuring this time, your business is unaffected as your existing product continues to run, leaving little pressure on your organisation.
bulletIf the SMT conversion is not completed within the agreed time frame, the proposed SMT cost savings are still handed onto the client.
bulletMillison Technology does not see its competitive advantage to be in through hole manufacture and will be eager to complete the SMT conversion within the minimum possible time frame. If we finish early, the SMT savings are handed across to you early.
bulletThis is a win / win situation, the only type that Millison plays for.

How much does this cost?

The cost of the conversion process is highly variable based on the complexity of the board being manufactured.

Millison will provide an accurate analysis of the costs involved in the conversion as a part of the proposal.

How long is the payback period?

The payback period for the conversion process is highly variable based on the complexity of the board and the volume being produced.

Typically we see the pay back period as being between two extremes. On some products the pay back period can be as long as twelve months. In some cases, the conversions costs are saved in a single manufacturing run.

Commercially, we tend not to recommend this offer to clients if the pay back period is going to be greater than a 12 month period unless there is some compelling reason to do so.

Is SMT conversion suited to all products?

No it is not. Some products are not suited to SMT manufacture due to either technical, regulatory or commercial reasons. Millison engineers are on hand to evaluate and discuss this with you.
