Millison uses two Marantz 22X-fv Automated Optical Inspection systems as a part our test and inspection strategy.

Parts
inspection is a function to compare the image of a PCB captured by a CCD
camera with the picture of a good PCB memorized in advance and to judge
whether it passes the inspection or not with the computer. Such judgment
is performed by simple specification of a portion to be inspected and
inspection of the existence of parts, positional divergence of parts,
wrong parts and the like at high speed. As color factors are also
inspected for judgment, objects which cannot be discriminated between
defective and good by brightness only can be judged reliably.

M22Xfv
Series is equipped with a red LED for solder fillet inspection. The red
LED, which lights during only fillet inspection, emphasizes an inclined
fillet and recognized it clearly. A captured picture is processed by
high-speed rendering. After the process, only fillet parts are extracted
from the captured picture, and judged whether the pattern is defective
or good. Reputable simple operations, which bring have been taken over
for programming operations and judgment.

| Solder print
inspection is a function to inspect the status of solder printed surface
by examining its area, place and form. Data processing is carried out
naturally because of the use of natural light as the same as the
previous parts inspection. Moreover, no special hardware is required. Data of solder printed surface to be inspected can be made by GERBER data, automatic sampling or manual designation.

As
a picture is taken from *FireWire port on Model 22Xfv.Model 22X does not
need troublesome adjustments. For example, by digital zoom in mode, 10
magnifications for IC letters and 20 magnifications for minute chips are
available while usual convenient operations can be performed. Moreover,
it is no problem if inspection frames of various magnifications exist in
one inspection picture.

Basically,
the camera calibration should be fixed. However, in some places to be
inspected, black components on dark surface or bright color components
on whitish surface actually exist. On the new models, frequent control
of the digital camera enables the camera setting that makes it easy to
see each place. Therefore, components can be recognized more clearly,
and can be inspected more precisely.

| The
inspection result shows NG portions with red circles on the picture of
the whole image of the inspected PCB itself. Moreover, the descriptions
of such portions can be displayed and the CCD camera can move there
directly. As the picture of the whole image of the inspected PCB can be
displayed even during the inspection of the following PCB, the result
can be confirmed while Model 22X is operating and you can use time
economically. Moreover, conveyance of inspection results and Remote mode are available by the network function on concentrated control software, Rc22X. Remote mode enables actual object confirmation mode on the server. In Remote mode, it is possible to confirm check results far away from the inspector using one server for several inspectors.

The
calibration of the digital camera can be adjusted automatically because
brightness and white balance can be adjusted by commands from the
computer. Therefore, correct adjustment can be performed at the
beginning of the inspection and at intervals of specified time.
